Welcome to Turkey Creek Campground!

 

We are so happy that you have chosen our campground for your visit to the mountains of western North Carolina. It is becoming apparent that spending time in the outdoors is one of the safest ways for you to recreate, so we’re glad you are here! However, we do have common areas that necessitate a new approach to campground life. For your time to be not only fun and enjoyable, but as safe and free from worry as possible, we have implemented rules and guidelines that adhere to CDC recommendations.

Please read this document. If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask for clarification prior to signing. Once signed you are responsible for following the rules and guidelines outlined in this document.

Hours of operation and emergency contact information is posted at the office and the bathhouse common area.

DISCLAIMER & WAIVER OF LIABILITY RELATED TO SARS-CoV-2 / COVID-19

 

GUEST SAFETY

  • Face Coverings: Face masks will be mandatory in and around the common areas (bathhouse, office, laundry room/dishwashing area). Face mask use is not mandatory on the deck but it is highly encouraged. Please carry a face mask with you while at the camp ground and use it around other guests who are not in your group. 

  • Social Distancing: Social distancing is defined as 6 feet distance or more. It is expected that you keep a minimum distance of 6 feet from Turkey Creek Campground staff and guests not in your group.

  • No groups greater than ten (10) people or more will be allowed to congregate anywhere in the campground. This is subject to change as the pandemic situation changes.

  • Group Campsites: Group campsites are not allowed.

  • Bring Cleaners: Please bring disinfecting cleaners and hand sanitizer for your personal use in your camp site. Disinfecting cleaners, as defined below, will be provided for the bathhouse, laundry room/dishwashing area, and campsites (power box and water spigot).

  • Bring Food and Supplies: Swain County is a small, isolated community with limited resources for residents. Given the circumstances of the pandemic, we ask that you come fully prepared so as not to deplete our community’s available resources.

  • DISCLAIMER, WAIVER AND RELEASE REGARDING SARS-Cov-2 (the virus) and COVID-19 (the disease): Turkey Creek Campground and its staff shall not be held liable for any SARS-Cov-2 (Coronavirus) / COVID-19 illness arising from your stay at our facility. By signing this Agreement you and the members of your group are assuming all liability and risk for your health and well-being regarding to SARS-CoV-2 / COVID-19.

CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT

  • Guest Screening: Guests are encouraged to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms.

Check any of the following statements that are true.
  • Temperature Checks: You and your group are encouraged to take temperatures daily. If anyone’s temperature measures over 100°F you are required to report this to the campground staff, leave the premises and seek medical care.

  • Sick Guests: During your stay at Turkey Creek Campground, if you or anyone in your group experience any of the conditions listed in the Guest Screening questions above you are required to report this to the campground staff, leave the premises and seek medical care.

  • Check-in Process:

    • Check-in can be in Office or no contact. Please let the Turkey Creek Campground staff know your preference. 

    • Currently check-in will be done from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

  • Check-out Process:

    • Check-out can be in Office or no contact. Please let the Turkey Creek Campground staff know your preference. 

    • Currently check out will be done from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. 

COMMUNAL BUILDINGS

Bathhouse

  • There will be a limit of four (4) people in each of women’s and men’s bathhouses: two (2) toilets and two (2) showers for each side;

  • Each camper will receive a numbered rectangular plastic ticket, a “fob.” The fob will be placed on a board at the bathhouse and removed when you leave the bathhouse. This will indicate the number of people who are in each of the men’s or women’s section of the bathhouse. 

    • All fobs are to be returned to the office at check-out or a $5.00 charge will be added to your bill at check-out.

  • RV campers will not be allowed use of the bathhouse and are expected to use their own toilet/shower facilities;

  • We will not be able to clean the bathhouse after each person’s use. CDC recommended disinfectant (e.g. diluted bleach solution or equivalent) will be provided in the bathhouse for campers to use after they have showered, used the sink or the toilet. CAUTION: bleach solutions are caustic and can cause damage to fabric and skin.

  • Minors must be accompanied by an adult to the bathhouse unless they are responsible, able and allowed to disinfect the areas they use in the bathhouse;

  • The bathhouse will be periodically closed for cleaning; every effort will be made to not interfere with our camper’s activities. See the posted hours at the office or the common area at the bathhouse;

  • Social distancing is required while in the bathhouse. Use of a mask is required when others not in your group are present except while showering, washing your face and brushing your teeth at the sink;

  • No hair drying in the bathhouse;

  • No applying makeup or other facial products while in the bathhouse;

  • Please be expedient when using the bathhouse so others can use it. Please keep a safe distance from others when entering or exiting the bathhouse.

Laundry Room / Dish Sink Area

  • We will not be able to clean the laundry room/dish sink area after each person’s use. CDC recommended disinfectant (e.g. diluted bleach solution or equivalent) will be provided in the laundry room/dish sink area for campers to use after they have completed their tasks’ and prior to leaving the room;

  • No more than one person in the laundry room/ dish sink area unless they are in the same group and then only two people are allowed.

 

Deck

  • Our deck is for your enjoyment;

  • Masks are not required, but recommended while on the deck;

  • Do not move the furniture;

  • No groups are to intermingle on the deck;

  • Social distancing between groups is required.                                                                                                            

  • Office

  • Hours of operation will be posted at the office and common area of the bathhouse. 

  • Mask use mandatory in and around the office; 

  • Ice will be available for purchase. Refer to hours of operation when ice will be available;

  • To limit contact a single person and/or two people from a group are allowed in the office for business purposes only.

GENERAL RULES

  • We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone and shall not be responsible for accidents or injury to our guests or loss of money, jewelry, or valuables of any kind;

  • Check-out time is no later than 11:00 AM with no exceptions because of the current pandemic. Check-in time starts at 3:00 PM and no later than 8:00 PM. Times are subject to change.

  • Drive slowly throughout the campground;

    • Quiet time is all the time.

    • No stereos or loud radios are allowed;

    • Radios must not be heard off your campsite;

    • Absolute quite will be observed between the hours of 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM with no exceptions;

    • Late night arrivals should setup camp as quietly as possible. Avoid flashing lights into other campsites and keep conversations low and to a minimum.

  • Alcohol is allowed in moderation only. Excessive drinking will not be tolerated i.e., becoming legally intoxicated; exhibiting belligerent behavior; causing excessive noise and other signs of over drinking. If you are asked to leave because of abuse of alcohol, the Sheriff’s office will be contacted.

  • Campsite fires: no foraging for firewood. Small open fires are only allowed in the provided firepits. Do not move the firepit. To protect our North Carolina trees only USDA inspected firewood will be allowed into the campground. Do not bring firewood from home. We sell firewood or you can purchase firewood locally (within 10 miles of Almond, NC). 

  • Keep your campsite clean. Please don’t litter and use the trash cans and recycle bins provided.

  • Respect our trees. Do not cut a tree, sapling, limb, etc. for any reason. Do not drive nails, screws, axes, knives or other instruments into any trees, or deface a tree for any reason. Marshmallow sticks are available at the office at no charge. 

  • Don’t climb banks. Avoid making or using steep paths to prevent erosion. 

  • No trenching around tents

  • Pets: Small pets are welcome provided they are not an annoyance. Do not leave pets unattended. Clean up after your pet. If you need kennel services please contact Rippling Water Kennel at (828) 488-2091.

  • Parents, Guardians and Group Leaders: The responsibility of your group is yours. Know where and what your charges are doing at all times. Make sure everyone is aware of all our campground rules.

  • No fireworks.

  • No visitors will be allowed until further notice.

ANY VIOLATIONS OF THESE RULES CAN RESULT IN PERMANENT EXPULSION

Your cooperation is appreciated and required.

I understand and agree to the above rules and stipulations for staying at Turkey Creek Campground. I take responsibility for the entire group at my site. If anyone in my group breaks the rules, I agree to vacate the premises and will be charged for the full reservation. I understand that I take full responsibility for my group’s health and well-being regarding SARS-Cov-2 / COVID-19. I further agree Turkey Creek Campground and its staff cannot be held responsible for illnesses experienced during or after staying at Turkey Creek Campground.
